When the shipping operations were unexpectedly disrupted at the onset of COVID-19, we realised the need to evolve the safety inspections process on board vessels, in order to eliminate the risk of transmission.
We have successfully conducted multiple SVI™, BSVI™, CSVI™, and TSVI™ inspections remotely, using audio-visual tools from our offices. Clients have participated from their local overseas offices, enabling effective assessment of their multi-million-dollar maritime assets without physical presence onboard.
We have created tailored training modules, digital platforms, and onboard programs to support our clients’ global fleets. These initiatives enhance onboard standards and ensure comprehensive crew safety training is delivered at every port call, helping vessels maintain operational excellence and meet compliance requirements consistently across international operations.
We are proud to be among the pioneers in Australia to utilise GPS-free, gyro-stabilised drones for cargo hold inspections. Our advanced drone capabilities extend to enclosed space assessments, hull and draft line inspections, and detailed mapping of vessels and port facilities. By integrating cutting-edge drone technology with traditional surveying methods, we offer a safer, more efficient alternative for accessing hard-to-reach areas. This approach not only enhances inspection precision but also significantly reduces risk to personnel.
Quality Marine Services has implemented the use of slider-mounted cameras to conduct draft surveys safely—completely eliminating the need for overside operations. High-definition cameras are fitted on custom sliding frames, allowing clear and accurate readings of draft marks directly from the main deck. Live visuals are streamed to smartphones, enabling remote access and real-time monitoring. This innovative solution enhances both the accuracy of measurements and the safety of the surveyor.
